Paulo Barradas Rebelo holds a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Coimbra in 1993. Graduated in Pharmaceutical Management from Catholic University of Portugal in 2001 and INSEAD's M&As and a Corporate Strategy program in 2013.
He was Technical Director and Owner of Pharmacy in the Centro Region of Portugal for 10 years and President’s Direction of Farbeira – Corporative of Center’s Pharmaceutical, CRL and Manager of Farmoeste - Distribuidora Farmacêutica do Oeste, Lda. from 1998 to 2001.
In 2001, he led a group of professionals who founded Bluepharma – Pharmaceutical Industry, S.A. and acquired the manufacturing facilities of the multinational Bayer in Coimbra. It stood out for the role played in the company's turn-around process, actively contributing to the maintenance of a technology-based strategic sector in Portugal, with an increase in the number of employees, market share and improved profitability.
Bluepharma was the first pharmaceutical company in Portugal to obtain the triple integrated certification in Quality, Environment, Occupational Health and Safety and is also certified by EMAS and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Its investments in Innovation, Investment, Internationalization and Quality have also been recognized with several prizes, the most recent being the COTEC-BPI SME Innovation Award 2012, the Insead Entrepreneurship Award 2012, Portugal Ventures' Oustanding Venture of the Year 2013 and the PME Excellence Award 2013. As a result of the partnership with the University of Coimbra, Bluepharma launched spin-offs - Luzitin, SA, Treat U, SA and BSim2, Lda.
He currently holds the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bluepharma Pharmaceutical Industry, S.A. and Bluepharma Genericos - Comércio de Medicamentos, S.A., as well as Administrator of Luzitin, S.A.
In 2010, he was one of the founders of A2B, SGPS, S.A., a Business Angels company focused on supporting technology-based, internationalizable projects in the seed and start-up phases, acting as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
In addition to these positions, he is managing partner of a group of several companies owned by I.P.B.R. GEST, SGPS, Lda., among them I.P.B.R. Farmácias, Lda., To I.P.B.R. Invest, S.A., Óptica Estádio, Lda. And Torre de Palma, Lda.
Nowadays, he is responsible for many different functions including the associative sector such as President of APOGEN’s General Assembly and President of the ACEGE’s Core in Coimbra.
